Stivers band lands prized date

Some of Dayton’s best will play for Ohio’s best when the 2011 Governor’s Awards for the Arts are presented on May 11, 2011, in Columbus.

The Stivers School for the Arts Jazz Orchestra has been chosen by the Ohio Citizens for the Arts to provide the entertainment for the event.

Dayton Public Schools superintendent Lori L. Ward offered a “hats off!” to the students and director Claude Thomas.
