Rascal Flatts cancels Nutter Center show

The Rascal Flatts concert at the Ervin J. Nutter Center has been canceled.

Last week, the band postponed its Saturday, Feb. 6 concert, citing safety concerns after a Friday snowstorm. On Friday, Feb. 12 the group’s publicist announced the cancellation.

“The date did not play due to severe inclement weather and for the safety of the fans,” according to statement by Jessie Schmidt, a publicist for Rascal Flatts.

Then the statement said that those who purchased tickets can take the tickets back to the point of purchase for a refund.

Those who bought tickets at the Nutter Center can start turning tickets in for refund on Monday, Feb. 15 starting at 10 a.m., said Misty Cox, Nutter Center spokesperson.

Since there are no fees, those ticket purchasers will get a full refund.

Online purchasers from TicketMaster will see a section on the site to make the return. Fees are non-refundable.

Cox said she doesn’t know why Rascal Flatts chose not to reschedule a date.

“We didn’t really get a reason,” Cox said.

Last week a spokesperson said the concert would be rescheduled and the group was ‘working immediately to get a date’ for a performance.

In 2008, Rascal Flatts had to postpone a February concert to May due to illness.

If the re-schedule date would have worked out, I might have been interested. If the original statement suggested refunds, they must have bailed because of ticket sales ( blaming the weather was a convenient excuse ).

I smell a rat here. Originally canceled “for the safety of the fans”. However, they moved a women’s basketball game from Sinclair back to McClin when this concert was canceled. Guess safety wasn’t much of a concern for the hoops fans - or maybe there weren’t any. And then no refund on ticketmaster fees. Ouch!

No surprise - country artists (despite what their fans keep saying) are no different than other musicians — $$ comes first - fans later

I’m not surprised. I lost all respect for them the last time they played in Dayton. They kicked off their opening act for “playing too loud” and “too long”. I’m sorry, as a paying concert goer i appreciate an artist giving a little extra. Hopefully Ratscal Flatts continue their downward spiral.

Dayton will suck a little bit less, without this “band”. Perhaps they just didn’t have enough hair gel.

I had tickets and Meet&Greets for this show. Yes, I’m really disappointed, but things happen. I don’t hold the guys responsible for this because they are genuine and are proud to be from Ohio. The last time they played Dayton, the opening act wasn’t kicked off, she couldn’t make the reschedule date. That’s why she wasn’t there. I’ll get my refund, but probably won’t attend another event at the Nutter. I will continue to be a fan and will see them when they come to the state fair…

I work in the business here in town. They canceled the rescheduling attempt because the stage is leased and it is up at the end of the last show. It is going to another artists tour to be used again. Personally I lost a lot of money on them not coming but at least I don’t have to sit through the torture of having to listen to their horrid music once again trapped in some truss spotlight I can’t escape from.
