Stevens ousted as WTUE Beatles host
Ann Stevens’ 16-year run as host of Sunday morning’s “Breakfast with the Beatles” show on local radio has ended.
She was fired from the part-time position at WTUE-FM this week as part of a national payroll reduction at stations owned by Clear Channel Radio.
“WTUE told me it was for economic reasons, but I presume they are going to continue the show without me. The show is still on their website,” Stevens said.
“As far as I am concerned, it’s my baby. I started it at WING-FM and brought it to WTUE eight years ago after a format change.”
WTUE program director Tony Tilford didn’t return calls from the Dayton Daily News on Thursday, April 30.
“I’m honored to have been able to do the show for so long and become part of so many people’s lives as a result. What hurts the most is that I won’t be able to talk to those Beatles people anymore. They were my family,” Stevens said.
When asked what Beatles song she would like to hear for her exit, Stevens chose her favorite, “Sexy Sadie.” “It has always made me happy.”
“Breakfast with the Beatles’ aired from 9 a.m. to noon Sundays.
Stevens’ life outside radio includes serving as public information coordinator for Montgomery County Jobs and Family Services.

This is so sad. I enjoyed listening to that program with Ann Stevens. Now I am not so sure I want to listen to it without her. I wonder who will do it now. Thank you so much Clear Channel. You have destroyed radio.

I have been boycotting Clear Channel stations for years. You are correct, Mad as Hell, Clear Channel has ruined radio in the Dayton market. I bought an iPod a few years ago, and now I listen to music on my own terms. On the web, try Pandora.com. It’s a great alternative to crap like Clear Channel.

I will still listen to Breakfast with the Beatles. There are other stations in the US that have the same “Breakfast with the Beatles” so it is not totally unique to Ann Stevens. Good Luck with your day job Ann.

I had the pleasure of working with Ann Stevens on WTUE’s “Breakfast With The Beatles”for over 5 years. I did the Paul McCartney news segment called “The Macca Report.” I am very disappointed with the station’s decision to let Ann go. Obviously they did not realize how popular the show has become because of Ann’s input, enthusiasm and dedication to the music of The Beatles. The show will not be the same without her and I for one will no longer listen to WTUE. This a great loss for Beatles fans in Dayton and for those who listened to Ann’s show religiously over the Internet. I hope another station will hire Ann so she can continue her Beatles show. It was a breath of fresh air and made my Sundays special. Let it Beatle with Ann Stevens!!! Jorie

I’m saddened to learn of Ann’s sudden departure from WTUE. Perhaps, she was a victim of the stagnant economy. I can’t believe that her ratings were poor or even declining. I used to listen to TUE when I was in my 20s,30s,and 40s, but excepting BWTB, I’ve had little use for them. Too radical for my mello musical tastes. I choose to listen to www.beatlesradio.com on the Internet. They play Beatles, Solo Beatles, Badfinger, etc. I get a kick out of the fake British accents offered up by amateur DJs, but more than that, I enjoy their musical selections. I hope Ann can find a new place to offer her talents. Good Luck, Ann Stevens, I will miss you. Kevin in Dayton
