DAYTON — The region's economic future will be the topic of a roundtable discussion slated for Oct. 28 and sponsored by the Greater Dayton African American Chamber of Commerce.
The luncheon discussion, "Is Dayton a Dying City or Being Reborn?" will include nine panelists from media outlets, businesses, government agencies and nonprofits. The discussion will focus on a recent ranking of Dayton by forbes.com as one of the nation's fastest-dying cities.
The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Canaan Community Center, 1306 Salem Ave.
Speakers includes: Jacqueline Fisher, director of the 88th Air Base Wing Base Realignment and Closure office, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base; Chris Howard, vice president of entrepreneurial development for the Dayton Development Coalition; Joey Williams, president and chief executive of Chase bank in Dayton; and Debbie Lieberman, Montgomery County commissioner.
In August, the Web site, part of the Forbes publishing empire, included Dayton with other Rust Belt cities such as Detroit and Flint, Mich., Springfield, Mass., Scranton, Pa., and the fellow Ohio cities of Cleveland, Canton and Youngstown.
Forbes based the list on job and population losses.
