Tornado watch in effect for parts of west Oklahoma

The Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY —

A tornado watch is in effect for parts of western Oklahoma and northwestern Texas just days after a monstrous tornado hit the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore and left 24 people dead.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center says the tornado watch will remain in effect through 10 p.m. Thursday.

Forecasters say tornadoes and damaging winds are possible and hail is likely in the watch area.

Meanwhile, storms that lingered over the Oklahoma City area brought flooding to some areas Thursday.

A number of roads in the metro area had to be closed Thursday morning due to high water. Cars and people were stranded in places and forecasters recommended residents delay traveling until the waters recede.

The latest storms come after a deadly tornado hit Moore on Monday.
